DECEMBER 2018 Extraordinary Woman | Priscilla Phangramond
This year LINEA Paolo is celebrating our customers – women just like you – by recognizing an Extraordinary Woman each month through our blog and social media channels.
Over the past several months, we have spotlighted nine amazing women, who are changing the world around them for the better as entrepreneurs, scientists, fashion mavens, moms, professionals, women bosses, plus size models, professional athletes and influencers.
This month we are so pleased to introduce you to a key member of our LINEA Paolo team – someone’s whose spirit, determination, and commitment to “doing it right” has been an absolute asset to our mission to deliver extraordinary fashion footwear to our customers.
Our December 2018 Extraordinary Woman is Priscilla Phangramond – our Account Specialist, a first-time-mom-to-be, SoCal (via Indonesia) foodie, lover of shoes, travel and her hubby Alex.
We sat down with Priscilla to learn more about what inspires her in life, personal style and work.
Tell us about your top 10 favorite things…
Shoes, shoes, shoes, haha – no I’m just kidding!
First on my list is family, then shoes of course, make up, baking, watching movies, puppies, coffee, the beach, pasta, and last but not least FRIED CHICKEN is my Kryptonite.
Completely understandable to have shoes as your second love after family – so glad they beat out puppies and fried chicken!
And how did you find your way to Los Angeles and into the footwear industry?
We moved to LA almost six years ago, hoping to live a better life and find a better environment to raise a family. As people say, the US is the land of opportunities.
My first job was with a fashion handbag company as a production manager and fron there I made my way to the footwear industry, and finally with Linea Paolo – which was the BEST decision ever!
And we are so happy that you decided to leave the handbag industry and join us over here in the world of shoes!
Our customers may not realize this, but our team is small (but mighty!) and each of us wears a lot of different hats, so to speak. Priscilla is truly our multi-hat maven, acting as the golden link between all our divisions.
Priscilla, can you share some of the key ways you contribute to keeping us all connected and up with our customers’ high demand for our shoes?
The first thing that came up in my mind is organize and making priorities.
Second – I like to take notes – post it notes are my best friends – lol.
Third – I love making to do lists, there is that feeling of satisfaction of scratching off the list, it’s like you achieved something.
And the most important thing is don’t be afraid to go for that extra mile, because I believed hard work always pays off.
At LP HQ, we received tons of inquiries and orders in a day, our team strives to fulfill every single one of our customers’ needs in a timely manner.
It gets crazy especially around this holiday season, but our promise to our customers is to be able to fulfill and cater to all of them.
Love your priorities and work insights – they’re definitely effective because you are undeniably on top of everything that comes across your desk!
The entire LINEA Paolo company culture is built around designing, handcrafting and delivering comfortable, high quality fashion footwear with incomparable value and style. Your work ethic and commitment is such a perfect match and we are so honored to have you as a part of our team!
And I know that all our wonderful customers are so appreciative of all the behind-the-scenes work that you and the operations team do to ensure that every order is fulfilled correctly, and every inquiry responded to with the highest caliber of customer service.
Moving on to fashion and style…
Tell us about your personal style – what’s your trademark look?
I would say I do not have a certain trademark look, I would wear anything that makes me comfortable. But if I have to choose one, probably an effortless casual yet chic look.
A good pair of black jeggings is a must!
YES to black leggings!
So, technically at the corporate office, we have a “work casual” dress code… I think this is pretty typical of a lot of work places in California.
What are your top 5 favorite work outfits (including shoes), and also the top 5 “no-nos” for this type of dress code.
Top 5 faves:
- Plain white Ts
- A jacket/cardigan to layer
- A pair of my fave jeans from Zara
- A pair of our FELICIA – absolute must-have!
- A tote/sling bag.
- Tops with lots of ruffles
- Light colored legging
- Genuine fur
Your top 5 are all big yesses! Imagining you all dressed up in all the no-nos is cracking me up!
So now for the really important question – why do you love shoes? And more specifically, what do you think sets LINEA Paolo apart from other shoe brands?
In my opinion, shoes are the key to any outfit. No matter what you wear, if you don’t wear a correct shoe, it will not complete your look.
Say you’re wearing a plain white T with a pair of jeans, you can easily complete your look with a simple mules or pumps, or even make a statement with an edgier booties/shoes.
In LP, we are breaking the industry standard to make a difference, from our designs, comfort, workmanship and customer service.
Our greatest strength is that we LOVE what we do, we are passionate about shoes!
We always try to listen to our customers, we care about what our customers’ feedback and I think that is what sets us apart from other shoe brands, and the most important thing to have in a company.
Perfectly stated, agreed 100%.
And if we were to name a shoe style after you – what would she look like?
If you asked me 5 years ago, I would say a pump!
But now I’m a FTM-to be, I appreciate very comfy flats or even mules.
I love intricate details, so perhaps something cute and beaded with a little embroidery on the upper to make a little statement!
Hello design team, are you taking notes?
Shifting to more philosophical topics… What inspires you?
Faith! I believed none of this – everything that happen in my life right now, will not happen if not because of a higher power. We are all blessed us with so much, I am still in awe of this every day.
This message of faith and gratitude is so powerful, especially at this time of year.
And how do you hope to inspire others?
With love and compassion. With just a simple smile or hello, I believed you can change someone’s day. Sometimes in life, we tend to focus on our own life, we forget about others. That is why we need to take a step back and try to connect with others, it could be your own spouse, family member, colleagues or even strangers.
Set aside 10 minutes of your day to talk to someone – and listen to what they have to say. Perhaps it would do you even more good than it will do them.
Since you are expecting a baby girl early next year, can you tell us some ways that you hope to set the best example for her as she grows up?
I’m not going to lie, the idea of raising a baby girl, terrifies me. Especially nowadays, with all the demands in the social media, bullies, shooting, sexual harassment, it is just too much for us all to handle.
Alex and I pray and hope for the best for her, also we will love her unconditionally, tell her that she is loved, beautiful, and smart every single day. That she doesn’t need any validation from other people because she is validated.
I believed the root of all the bad things that happened nowadays are because people don’t feel validated, appreciated, or even loved, they feel insecure.
We grew up in an Asian family – and can say from our experience that Asian families often lack displays of affection or love gestures, which is why this is the first thing that we wanted to change in our family. We will teach her how not to give up, to be brave, persevere, to love and show compassion to everyone even with strangers.
These are truly beautiful and powerful sentiments – you and Alex are going to be exceptional parents. Your daughter is so fortunate to be coming into such a loving and enlightened home.
And if you could sum up your personal philosophy in one sentence, what would it be?
God’s timing is always perfect, and always be grateful with what you have.
And finally, can you share with us something about yourself that most other people don’t know about you?
I grew up in Indonesia with my other 4 sisters, so yeah you can imagine our house is full of girls. But the nice thing to grow up with all sisters, we can trade our outfits! Another fun fact, my husband Alex and I were high school sweethearts, but we met way back when we were in middle school!
Four sisters – that must have been an emotional rollercoaster – wow! And how cute is it that you and Alex are almost life-long friends. You both must feel so lucky to have found your solemate!
Priscilla, thank you so much for sharing your day with us, and for being part of our extraordinary team! We cannot wait to see what’s up next for you, and LINEA Paolo in 2019.
